Back in December 2017, I was looking for a new video game to play over the holidays but I found none that gripped my interest. Instead of coming home empty handed, I instead leafed through the local game store’s pre-order offers and found this listed.
I have never played a single title from the NieR series and I probably never will unless I get myself a PS4. Despite having absolutely zero background on the franchise, I still went through with the order based on the fact that I was interested in 2B’s design (jk, I’m a pervert).
This half-assed decision came back to bite me in the ass two days ago when the figure arrived and I pretty much forgot that I had to fork over an additional PhP 3,000.00 before I could claim it. Because of this figure, my Gunpla budget will be severely limited for the rest of the month. With less upcoming build content, I might as well write an overview for the figure set.
Figure Set Details
Name: NieR: Automata Bring Arts 2B & Machine Life Form Set
Produced By: Square Enix Co., LTD.
Pre-ordered/Purchased From: Datablitz
Price: PhP 3,595.00 (PhP 3,450.00 Discounted)
The box was in pristine condition when I got it. No dents or wrinkled cardboard. I forgot to take pictures of the back lol.
It should be noted that the piece that holds up the Pod works better when the longer and thinner part is used to support robot and the thick end is plugged into the stand assembly.
Shots and Size Comparison
There were a few gripes I encountered when handling the two figures. 2B’s shoulder and elbow joints were rather stiff and needed a bit of breaking in. Machine’s elbows tend to pop off if rotated at an angle and his feet are hard to swing for poses.
Sculpting on both of them is great, but the paint job on 2B’s details is kind of disappointing. I don’t know what method they used to apply the white/silver for the details but they could’ve done a better job in terms of color separation.
The set is still pretty good but I can’t recommend it unless there’s a price drop or if the potential buyer is a big fan of the game or the franchise. I should’ve just bought the set with the two machines. It’s cheaper and I think the machines look adorable.
